Sit down at this stand out Beaverton brew pub and eatery

I’m not one to typically be attracted to the offerings to be found in strip malls, especially when it comes to food, so I would understand your reticence. But if you can overcome that slight distraction, Monteaux’s Public House is a great bistro worth a visit.

Part of what appealed to me was that they dodged the predictable. Theirs is not the same old fare The tasty potato pierogis is exhibit A in that case, and are worth the trip alone. Other intriguing entrée offerings range from Mongolian beef to Creole Étouffée.

Still, it’s not all words foreign words on the menu. All kind of old reliables are on offer as well, including pasta, chicken, sirloin, fresh fish. There’s a varied burger menu — including the oxymoronic yet very popular “vegan burger” — and plenty of inventive salads, wraps and sandwiches.

Monteaux’s offers a daily Happy Hour (3-6, 9-close), a great choice of tap beers, and even several other gluten-free meal options. With a kid’s menu and homemade desserts to boot, they’re living up to their cheeky claim: “Standing out in suburbia since the turn of the century.”
