Summer 2012 boasts the most bike events ever to take place in Washington County! Best of all, the length of events ranges from a 1 1/2 mile ride to 100 miles. Registration is now open for all rides (where applicable). Will I see you on two wheels at the Harvest Century ride? I hope so!

Sunday Trailways
Sunday, June 24
Sunday Trailways is a new Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District event that will showcase the Fanno Creek Regional Trail. All ages and activity levels are welcome to come walk, run or bike and enjoy more than four miles of fun from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as activities and environmental education. Six selected points along the route will have activities ranging from crafts to food booths. Participation is free.
Vamonos Hillsboro Bike Ride
Saturday, July 7
Join Metro and Hillsboro Futsal for a free, kid friendly bike ride around Hillsboro, from 10 a.m. to noon. Advance registration not required. This ride repeats on Saturday, Aug. 25.
5th Annual Tour de Parks
Saturday, July 21
Tour de Parks is a “biking celebration” offering a choice of a 2-park, 6-park or 10-park family friendly bike ride through Hillsboro. These rides are free and range from 1 1/2 miles to 13 miles, and all begin at 1 p.m.
There is also the option for “Le Grand Tour,” a 62-mile ride that begins at 8 a.m. and requires advance registration for $30.
Wheels to Wine in Washington County
Sunday, July 22
This Cystic Fibrosis Cycle for Life signature bike event begins at Tualatin Estate Vineyard in Forest Grove and winds through rural roads in Washington County, with riders choosing either a 35-mile route or 65-mile route. The post-ride celebration includes live music, food and wine. Registration is $35 with a pledge requirement as well.
Tour de Cure
Saturday, July 28
Cyclists can choose routes ranging from five miles to 100 for this American Diabetes Association ride–all of which begin and end at Hillsboro Stadium. The Tour de Cure finish line party includes lunch, live music, kids activities and vendor booths. Registration is $25 with a minimum fundraising amount as well.
STIHL Tour de Trees
Sunday, August 5
The STIHL Tour des Trees focuses its weeklong bicycle ride on Oregon this year, and kicks off in Banks on day one of the 585-mile journey that circles through the state and finishes in Portland.
Vamonos Forest Grove Ride
Wednesday, August 15
Join Metro and Adelante Mujeres at the Forest Grove Farmers Market for a free, kid-friendly bike ride around Forest Grove’s 10k Emerald Necklace Loop at 5:30 p.m. All ages welcome. Advance registration not required.
Beaverton, Banks & Beyond Bicycle Tour
Saturday, August 25
This ride offers three options for rolling through several Washington County towns: 32 miles, 64 miles or 86 miles. The overall destination is LL “Stub” Stewart State Park, then looping back to Beaverton, where lunch will be served.
Bike Beaverton 2012
Sunday, September 9
Bike Beaverton is a free, 6-mile jaunt through lower-traffic streets in Beaverton, with a finish line featuring live music and a free ice cream social. More info.
Harvest Century

In its tenth year, the Harvest Century ride is to “celebrate the coming of a glorious fall” with options of 3-mile, 45-mile, 75-mile or 100-mile route, all of which begin at Hillsboro Stadium and continue along the leaf-scattered rural roads throughout the county. Participants enjoy hot cider at rest stops, a wine tasting and a finish line party featuring a beer garden, catered meal and live music.
